About us
Learnwell is a French language school in Surrey. Most of the people who come to us are newcomers and permanent-residency applicants who need genuine French proficiency — often at the NCLC 5 or NCLC 7 level — to move their plans forward.
We teach in structured pathways rather than casual drop-in classes. We also have an in-house regulated immigration consultancy working alongside the school, which means when a student asks how French fits into their broader plans, we can connect them with a licensed consultant for a proper answer right away.
We’re a small team, and we our company culture is more a family rather than a business. Everyone here knows the students by name.
The role
You’ll usually be the first real conversation a prospective student has with us. Someone fills in a form, calls the campus, or walks through the door — often with a sense that French might help them and not much clarity beyond that. Your job is to understand where they’re starting from, help them see the path honestly, and enrol the ones we can genuinely help.
It’s a consultative role with a long consideration cycle. Students are committing months of their lives to this, so trust matters more than urgency. The best people in this seat are curious, patient, and comfortable telling someone “not yet” when that’s the truthful answer.
What you’ll be doing
1. Looking after the inbound pipeline. Responding to web enquiries, calls, and walk-ins promptly, and moving each one forward in our CRM so nothing goes quiet.
2. Running enrolment consultations. Getting to know a student’s timeline, current French level, budget, and schedule, then recommending the pathway that actually fits.
3. Bringing in the right expertise. Placement assessments go to our Program Director, and anything that counts as immigration advice goes to our licensed consultant. You’ll pick up plenty of background knowledge along the way, and you’ll always have someone qualified to hand those questions to.
4. Closing and onboarding. Walking students through pricing and payment options, completing enrolment agreements, and handing off warmly to the academic team.
5. Building local relationships. Community outreach, referral partnerships, and campus events around Surrey — steady relationship work rather than cold-call volume.
6. Keeping good records. Clear CRM notes, consent captured properly, and weekly reporting on pipeline health.
How success is measured
We keep this transparent so you always know where you stand. Targets are set with you and reviewed together each week:
- Weekly enrolment target — an agreed number of new student enrolments per week
- Consultations booked and held per week, and the show-rate between the two
- Enquiry response time — first contact within the agreed window
- Enquiry-to-consultation and consultation-to-enrolment conversion rates
- Pipeline coverage — enough active opportunities to support the month ahead
- CRM accuracy — activity logged the same day
- Student fit — measured by how well enrolled students stick with and complete their program
The first 90-day probationary period comes with a ramp plan and lighter targets while you learn the programs.
What we’re looking for
We’d love to see
- A couple of years in consultative sales, admissions, or recruitment, with individual targets you’ve met
- Comfort with a multi-week sales cycle and a considered, higher-value decision
- Warm, clear communication in English, written and spoken
- Good CRM habits — you log what actually happened
- Eligibility to work in Canada
Nice to have
- Punjabi, Hindi, or Tagalog alongside English
- Experience in private career colleges, language schools, or newcomer services
- A working familiarity with Canadian immigration pathways
- Any level of French
How we sell
We’re genuinely low-pressure. If a program isn’t right for someone, we say so — that honesty is a big part of why students refer their friends to us. And because immigration advice is regulated work, we’re careful to route those questions to the people licensed to answer them. If that approach sounds like a relief rather than a constraint, you’ll fit in well here.
Why you might enjoy this
- Real demand. Interest in French pathways is strong right now, so you’re not manufacturing enthusiasm from nothing.
- Something worth selling. Structured hours, exam-aligned curriculum, and outcomes you can point to.
- Support behind you. In-house immigration expertise helps answer the question that stalls most decisions.
- Room to grow. Uncapped commission on top of a base salary, and a clear path toward senior admissions or campus leadership as we expand.
