Intermediate Drafting Technician (Residential Design)

We’re currently looking for an experienced Intermediate Drafting Technician to join our in-house drafting team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on production role for someone who already understands residential construction documentation and is excited to grow within a professional design studio.
You’ll support our Drafting Team Lead and Creative team by producing accurate, permit-ready drawing sets for custom single-family homes and plan modifications. You’ll work primarily in Revit and collaborate closely with designers, consultants, and municipalities as required.
This position is in-office only at our Abbotsford studio.
Key Responsibilities
- Create preliminary and construction/permit drawings for custom single-family homes
- Develop floor plans and exterior concepts based on design direction
- Build coordinated Revit models suitable for construction documentation
- Carry projects from concept to permit with increasing independence
- Apply zoning bylaws and BC Building Code requirements accurately
- Analyze siting conditions, setbacks, and jurisdictional requirements
- Complete redline revisions and self-check work for accuracy and completeness
- Communicate with consultants, city planners, and plan checkers
- Maintain organized project files and documentation standards
- Collaborate with designers and fellow drafters to meet deadlines
- Support junior team members when required
Required Qualifications
Education
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Architectural Drafting, Architectural & Building Technology, or related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
Experience
- Minimum 6–7 years professional drafting or architectural experience (single-family residential required)
- Minimum 4 years Revit experience producing residential construction documents
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for coordination
- Strong understanding of:
- BC Building Code
- Residential construction methods and materials
- Building envelope fundamentals

- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to review your own work and solve technical problems independently
