Journeyman Machinist
VIH Aerospace (VIHA), a global leader in Helicopter Manufacturing, Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MMRO) is looking to expand our Manufacturing Department by hiring an additional Journeyman Machinist.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
VIHA is looking for a team-focused person to join our Machining and Manufacturing Department. Reporting to the Manufacturing Department Manager, the ideal candidate will gain exposure to a variety of manufacturing projects.
This is a full-time position based at the VIH Aerospace facility in Sidney, BC, Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program jobs using Feature Cam and/or Fusion 360 software.
- Set up and operate a variety of manual and CNC equipment to produce precision parts.
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine machining operations.
- Perform routine maintenance on machine shop equipment.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve production processes.
- Troubleshoot issues with machine shop equipment and make necessary adjustments.

REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyman Machinists ticket is preferred; however, all levels of experience will be considered.
- Proficiency in operating manual and CNC machine equipment such as lathes and HAAS mills (VF-6TR and VF-2SS).
- Strong knowledge of Feature CAM/Fusion 360, CAD, and blueprint reading.
- Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Basic math skills for calculations and measurements.
- Ability to assemble and fabricate parts according to specifications.
- Attention to detail, especially ensuring specific steps are followed to complete a task and have high standards towards quality control.
- Experience with Mill Turns and 5+ Axis would be an asset for future planned expansion.
- Demonstrate the values of safety, teamwork, and accountability and work well with others.
