Production Technician – Full Time – Onsite
Industrial Plankton designs and manufactures high-tech algae bioreactors with the goal of improving global food security and reducing greenhouse gases through advances in biotechnology. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Production Technician who loves hands-on assembly and takes pride in their work.
This role will report directly to the Production Lead, bringing craftsmanship, precision, and drive to our team.

What You’ll Do:
● Assembly, inspection, testing, and installation of mechanical and electrical components.
● Finishing Operations: Including drilling, tapping, routing, deburring, sanding, and polishing various components.
● Gluing: Apply solvent glues and other adhesives to join plastic components
● Polishing: Finish plastic surfaces to a high standard of clarity and smoothness (for biosecurity) using various polishing methods.
● Large-Scale Plastic Forming: Use thermoforming techniques, such as line bending and drape forming, to shape plastics.
● Routing: Operate hand routers and other equipment to accurately cut and shape plastic parts with guides and jigs.
● Maintain clean and organized workstations, tools, and production areas
● Follow and promote all health and safety procedures and contribute to a safe work environment
● Aid in building and testing other subassemblies for the bioreactors, as well as custom solutions for customer support

What You’ll Bring:
● Hands-on experience assembling or building things you're excited about
● Dexterity and coordination to perform manual tasks
● Proficiency with various hand and power tools (impact drivers, drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, various saws, routers, crimpers, etc.)
● Ability to read and understand detailed instructions, both verbal and written in English
● Exceptional attention to detail
● Comfort wearing PPE (respirators & nitrile gloves) for extended periods
● Comfort working both independently and collaboratively
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
● Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves and help wherever required
● Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
● Forklift certification and previous experience in manufacturing environments are assets
