South River Scoops 'N' More is a busy, year-round food service business located in the beautiful Almaguin Highlands Region of Northern Ontario. We are currently expanding and preparing to open a new full-service restaurant with seating for approximately 48–60 guests.
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dependable Kitchen Manager / Lead Line Cook - Restaurant Opening Opportunity, who is looking for more than just a cooking position. This individual will play a key role in helping us build and operate our new restaurant while supporting our existing Scoops operation.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, maintaining food quality and consistency, assisting with inventory and ordering, training staff, and helping establish efficient kitchen systems as we expand our restaurant operations.

Responsibilities Kitchen Operations
- Prepare and cook menu items according to company standards
- Maintain quality, consistency, and presentation of all food products
- Operate grill, fryer, sauté, pizza, prep, and line stations as required
- Assist with menu execution and recipe consistency
- Ensure all food safety standards are maintained
Inventory & Ordering
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate ordering requirements
- Assist with weekly inventory counts
- Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO)
- Help reduce waste and control food costs
- Receive and organize deliveries
Leadership & Training
- Assist in training and mentoring kitchen staff
- Promote teamwork and professionalism
- Support management with daily kitchen operations
- Help maintain a positive workplace culture
Cleanliness & Food Safety
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Ensure compliance with Public Health regulations
- Follow all sanitation and food handling procedures
- Participate in opening and closing duties
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 5 yearsof professional cooking or line cook experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred
- 5+ years restaurant experience
- Leadership or supervisory experience
- Inventory and food ordering experience
- Food cost control experience
- Food Handler Certification
- Experience opening or helping manage a restaurant operation

Relocation Opportunity
Accommodations may be available for qualified out-of-town candidates. A private loft apartment is currently under construction and is expected to be available in Fall 2026. Housing arrangements may be discussed as part of the overall compensation package for the successful candidate.
