Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lead Cook to join our team this summer! This role combines leadership in managing kitchen-related activities with an interest in hands-on general maintenance duties. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and possess a passion for creating high quality delicious meals and being a team player.
This role is primarily a Cook position, however when cooking is not required, there will be other general maintenance tasks required to help support overall operations and maintenance of our facilities.
We are an Indigenous-owned and operated full service, off-grid and remote guest lodge located in the East Kootenays, BC, in the beautiful and majestic Canadian Rocky Mountains. We are accessible by road, approximately 1/2 hour from Radium Hot Springs, 1 hour from Banff, and 3 hours from Calgary.

Position is from July 1 to September 7, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Menu planning, shopping lists, preparation and presentation of all meals for the lodge guests.
- Create high quality home-cooked meals and desserts, while at the same time being cost conscious.
- Prepare dishes for guests with food allergies or intolerances, as required, and handle all dietary concerns with appropriate care and concern.
- Ensure proper storage and labelling of all items in kitchen, fridges, freezers, and rotate to use them up and reduce waste.
- Stock and organize work area, fridges, freezers, and pantry. Be present to put away grocery orders when they get delivered.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of dishes, equipment, appliances, and all work areas in the kitchen
- When cooking is not required, help around the property, as needed. This could include tasks such as cleaning the main lodge, cleaning cabins, chopping and hauling wood, or light painting.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience as a cook. Experience cooking in a remote setting is an asset.
- Food Safe training is an asset.
- Comfortable working in an open kitchen where positive interactions with guests is required.
- Organized and conscientious in food preparation, ensuring top-notch quality in every dish.
- Be self-directed, tidy, efficient, and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Physically able to keep up with the long days and active pace of a busy lodge where guests are continually coming and going.
- An ability and willingness to work flexible hours.
- A cheerful, approachable, and personable nature as well as a willingness to be a team player who chips in where needed.
- Comfortable and enjoy being in the natural world. We are in a remote wilderness setting.
- Having your own vehicle is an asset.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
