POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Casework Supervisor, Team Lead, and Director, the Generalist Intake Assessor is responsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and rights of children within a healthy and culturally supportive environment. The role works collaboratively with children, youth, and families to improve quality of life while supporting the preservation of Tsuut’ina language, culture, and traditions through the application of the Casework Practice Model, Practice Standards, and the Signs of Safety Model. The Generalist Intake Assessor provides a full range of child intervention and family enhancement services, and service coordination. Working within a collaborative team environment, the position supports children, youth, and families through assessment, engagement, collaboration, and family preservation practices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assessment and Case Management– assess child and family risk and safety factors. Conduct ongoing assessments of children, youth, and families to inform case planning and service delivery. Work with families to identify concerns and address issues contributing to the need for intervention. Develop, implement, and review required case plans. Coordinate and facilitate case conferences and family meetings. Provide ongoing case management and intervention services.
- Family and Community Collaboration– engage collaborate, and coordinate with families, community agencies, service providers, and natural supports. Maintain positive working relationships with community support services. Assist with community collaboration initiatives, events, and projects. Support family preservation and culturally responsive service delivery practices.
- Legal and Court Responsibilities– prepare for and attend court proceedings as required. Maintain knowledge of legal authorities and court processes related to child intervention practice. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, policies, standards, and protocols.
- Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities– maintain accurate case documentation and records in accordance with file standards. Participate in regular case consultation. Attend staff meetings and case review discussions. Organize and prioritize work to meet required deadlines.
- Operational Responsibilities– participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Represent the organization in a professional and ethical manner at all times. Promote teamwork and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Desired Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and/or Master of Social Work (MSW) with related experience working with children, youth, and families.
- Delegation Certification Training is required.
- Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers is an asset.
- Knowledge of intergenerational trauma and trauma-informed approaches.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policy standards, court processes, and legal authorities directly related to child intervention practice.
- Knowledge of Tsuut’ina Nation culture, traditions, and community-based service delivery.

General Employment Requirements:
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License, proof of insurance and registration, and reliable transportation.
- Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Intervention Check, and Academic Verification.

- Flexible schedule to participate in on-call and after-hours rotation schedule.
