The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for leading all financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and strategic financial guidance that supports Merit Metals & Alloys Inc. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, cost accounting, payroll, and regulatory compliance, while partnering closely with senior leadership to drive financial performance and operational efficiency within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and execute the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Assist in the preparation and analysis of the monthly financial reporting package for management and stakeholders
Support the budgeting and forecasting process by gathering financial data, analyzing trends, and preparing variance reports
Participate in the year-end audit process, coordinating with external auditors and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
Oversee full-cycle Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions
Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support business decision-making
Handle other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent designation preferred but not required).
3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in manufacturing, metals, or industrial sectors.
Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial controls.
Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel/financial modeling skills.
Excellent analytical ability, attention to detail, and communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
