WETS offers Swim Instructors predictable income, flexible hours, and the professional‑level WETS Certified Swim Instructor credential. You’ll teach our gold‑standard Skill‑Building Program for students ages 3+, including teens and adults, at WETS Academy locations.
Through structured training and ongoing professional development each season, you’ll grow as an instructor and develop your leadership skills. As you deepen your expertise, you’ll become the trusted swim expert families and students in your community turn to first for swim lessons that build swim capabilities, skill by skill.
WETS currently has opportunities for Academy Swim Instructors to teach in Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton, and Vernon, British Columbia. This is a professional contract role with flexible part‑time or full‑time hours in a focused teaching environment, with compensation that recognizes your skills and the results you deliver.

What You Will Do
- Teach students ages 3+ how to swim correctly in the WETS Program.
- Deliver semi-private lessons at a hotel or private pool facility.
- Personalize instruction to each student's age and stage of development.
- Prioritize safety and create an encouraging learning environment.
- Assess and recognize progress.
What You Bring | Qualifications
- Current Bronze Cross certification, or in progress, is required.
- Current Swim Instructor Certification (WETS, Swim for Life, YMCA, or equivalent) is an asset, but not required.
- Teaching experience is an asset.
- Commitment to complete WETS training and earn your WETS Certified Swim Instructor credential to teach our Skill-Building Program.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with swimmers and families.
- Reliable, adaptable, and hands on approach to instruction.
- Strong understanding of water safety.
- A passion for swimming, teaching and making a positive impact in your community.
Structure and Compensation
This is a professional contract role, not employment. You determine your availability and accept or decline opportunities that fit your schedule, and you deliver lessons supported by our instruction model. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and for maintaining any required certifications, apart from the WETS Certified Swim Instructor credential.
$25 to $50+ per hour, based on your experience, WETS training, and service agreement. Compensation is provided on a per-service basis with payment issued upon submission of invoices.
The 5 Steps To Join WETS
1. Apply to teach with WETS. Successful candidates will be invited to our interview process.
2. Following the interview process, successful candidates will be invited to complete our training program that includes our online curriculum and in pool training.
3. Upon completion of training, you'll earn your WETS Certified Swim Instructor credential that qualifies you to teach WETS Program at any of our WETS Academy locations.
4. Identify the WETS Academy location where you would like to teach lessons and set your availability.
5. You'll meet with our team to discuss your availability and create an agreement for the sessions you are going to teach with opportunities to grow.

Students can join the WETS Program at any stage of development and enroll in sessions year-round.
