Who We Are: Who We Are: Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Indigenous Child and Family Service Agency governed by a Board of Directors represented by ʔakisq̓nuk, ʔaq̓am, yaqan nuʔkiy (Lower Kootenay Band), yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡiʾit (Tobacco Plains Band), Shuswap Band and the Métis Nation BC. KKCFSS programs and services are available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in Ktunaxa ʔamakʔis (Traditional Territory).

The Opportunity: We are seeking Youth Care Workers to join our Ktunaxa House team on a casual, on-call basis.
In this role, you will provide hands-on daily support to children and youth in care, helping create a safe, stable, and home-like environment. You will mentor youth, support life skills development, and contribute to their emotional, social, and cultural well-being.
In the Role as Youth Care Worker, You Will:
- Create a safe, structured, and supportive living environment
- Build positive, trusting relationships with youth as a role model
- Support development of life skills such as cooking, hygiene, and budgeting
- Supervise and participate in recreational and community activities
- Assist with individualized care and case management plans
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution when needed
- Promote healthy, addiction-free lifestyles
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation
- Collaborate with social workers, team members, and community partners
What You Will Bring to the Role:
Education & Experience:
- Diploma or certificate in Human Services, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or related field
- Experience working with youth, ideally in residential or at-risk settings
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
Skills & Knowledge:
- Understanding of Indigenous culture, history, and family systems
- Strong mentoring, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to de-escalate conflict and respond to crises
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
