Job Description Manager – City Hoops
City Hoops is a youth basketball program offering both house league and competitive play, proudly launched in 2023. Its home court is a newly renovated gymnasium at Holy Name Catholic School, right in the heart of Riverdale (at Danforth and Carlaw). City Hoops is committed to growing its presence in the community and making basketball more accessible and enjoyable for kids of all skill levels.
The Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the City Hoops youth basketball program. The Manager will ensure a high standard in programming, customer service, health and safety, and reporting is being delivered by all program staff. This is an administrative position requiring strong interpersonal, leadership, written and verbal communication skills as well as a willingness to learn and train while on the job.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee development, launch, implementation, and reporting of the program based on timelines, budgets, and needs.
- Coordinate program schedule and sessions ensuring safety and progressive development of players.
- Perform program administration tasks, including being responsible for tracking program related budgets, managing member accounts and payment schedules, and maintaining program standards, policies, and procedures.
- Manage all staff training and scheduling.
- Act as primary contact and maintain strong, positive working relationships with for all program stakeholders, including participants, parents, school administrators, caretakers and teachers.
- Manager program website and social media accounts.
- Manage creation and development of marketing plans and materials.
- Oversee day-of operations ensuring all sessions are problem-free and managing any player or parent discipline needs.
- Attend management meetings weekly or as required.
- Perform facility related tasks as scheduled, including cleaning, ordering supplies and equipment, etc.
Required Skills and Experience
The position requires the following qualifications:
- Active participation in the basketball community; priority will be given to candidates engaged in this space.
- Business, Sport/Recreation, Early Childhood Education, or other relevant post-secondary diploma/degree.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory role, managing staff.
- Sport background and interest.
- Certifications in First Aid/CPR are required; NCCP, High Five are assets.
- A clear vulnerable sector check is required.
Compensation
- $65,000 to $75,000 per year

- Three weeks paid vacation; pre-approved by City Hoops Owner/Operator
o Note vacation cannot be taken during key program periods, such as first day of new session or camp, etc.
Work Schedule
Work schedule will be flexible; however, the Manager must be on-site during core program hours, Monday-Sunday, September-June between approximately 5pm-10pm and July-August from approximately 8:30am-4:30pm. The Manager must also be available for regular, management meetings, occasional school events, and parent meetings, as required. This position is not suitable to work-from-home and/or remote work.
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
