Marketing Operations Lead (20 Hours per Week – Potential for Full-Time)

We are seeking a creative and community-focused Marketing Operations Lead to help share our story, grow awareness of our work, and strengthen our connection with the communities we serve.
Position Summary
The Marketing Operations Lead leads DFCC’s marketing, communications, and promotional efforts to increase awareness of our programs, services, events, and impact.
This role encompasses content creation, website management, campaign development, and support for fundraising and community initiatives. Working alongside staff and supervising the Social Media Specialist, the Marketing Operations Lead helps ensure DFCC’s messaging is consistent, engaging, and community centered. Provide a monthly progress report as required.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Campaign Planning
- Develop and implement marketing and communications plans that support DFCC programs, services, events, fundraising initiatives, and organizational priorities.
- Create and coordinate promotional campaigns that increase awareness, participation, and community engagement.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen DFCC's visibility and brand presence throughout the Durham Region.
- Monitor marketing trends and recommend innovative approaches to community outreach and engagement.
Storytelling, Marketing & Communications
- Create engaging content for social media, flyers, newsletters, websites, promotional materials, fundraising campaigns, and organizational communications.
- Develop graphics, digital assets, and promotional materials using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
- Coordinate photography and videography need to support marketing and promotional efforts.
- Share stories, successes, and community impact in ways that inspire participation, support, and community connection.
Website Management & Digital Presence
- Maintain and regularly update the DFCC website to ensure content is current, accurate, and engaging.
- Create and publish website content that promotes programs, services, events, fundraising initiatives, and organizational updates.
- Coordinate website updates, including program information, event registrations, news, resources, and community announcements.
- Monitor website performance and user experience, identifying opportunities for improvement.
Program & Event Promotion
- Lead promotional efforts for DFCC programs, workshops, community events, campaigns, and special initiatives, for example, the Annual General meeting (AGM).
- Develop promotional timelines and communication plans to support successful participation in programs and events.
- Coordinate outreach activities that increase registration, attendance, and community engagement.
- Collaborate with staff and program teams to gather information and promotional materials.
Fundraising & Community Engagement
- Help bring fundraising campaigns to life through creative marketing, community outreach, and compelling communications.
- Develop promotional materials and communications that support fundraising and donor engagement efforts.
- Promote fundraising campaigns, events, and community initiatives through digital and community-based marketing efforts.
- Help communicate the impact of DFCC's work to supporters, partners, funders, and the broader community.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field
- Experience in marketing, communications, or content creation
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Experience managing websites (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar)
- Familiarity with Canva or similar design tools
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Nonprofit or community sector experience
- Experience with fundraising or event promotion
- Photography, videography, or design skills
- Email marketing or CRM experience
- Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion in communications
Employment Details
- 20 hours per week, part-time with potential for full-time
- Occasional evening/weekend availability required
- Some local travel within Durham Region may be required
