To perform general repairs on all hotel equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, plumbing, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools and maintenance in guest rooms and perform minor repairs and maintenance to these rooms. To cure deficiencies identified on maintenance request forms in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Perform necessary repairs to all hotel equipment.
· Take equipment readings, meter readings and maintain log in a legible and orderly manner.
· Conduct preventative maintenance on all hotel equipment.
· Attend to other repairs as required to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of the guests.
· Attend to common area repairs such as exhaust fans, light bulb replacement and electrical repairs.
· Perform plumbing repairs in guest rooms such as toilets, faucets and shower parts.
· Checks and replace defective light bulbs, electrical outlets and switches.
· Check, adjust and/or replace television if required.
· Perform general repairs of heating and air condition units.
· Clean air conditioner and washroom exhaust grills according to set cleaning schedule.
· Change air conditioner filters according to set cleaning schedule.
· Check and tighten all room hardware such as towel racks, toilet paper holder, drape hardware, light fixtures, lamp and furniture handles.
· Check furniture drawers for proper operation, repair as required.
· Clean parking area of garbage/debris.
· Test pool (chlorine levels etc.)
· Maintain pool equipment in proper working condition.
· Complete all fire inspections including stand by pipes, extinguishers, emergency lights and exit doors.
· Maintain a clean and orderly job site after the completion of each job.
· Document all work performed on check list provided.
· Tiling, wall papering, drywall repairs including painting.
· Perform all work in a neat and professional manner.
· Be prepared to respond and assist with emergencies such as fire alarms, power failure and sprinkler malfunction.
· Shovel the snow and salt the main entrance and side walk.

· Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by management. These tasks may not be directly related to the job function but to the repair and maintenance of the hotel as a whole.
OTHER
· Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per TDHS Standards
· Report any unsafe conditions immediately using maintenance request forms.
· Follow all company policies and procedures with regards to Health & Safety.
· Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety and its regulations.
· Have a thorough knowledge of all fire and safety procedures and equipment (fire extinguishers) in the event a situation occurs.
· Maintain security for guests and property by keeping room doors locked at all times; reporting any suspicious activity by guests or others; properly labelling lost and found articles and turning them in; observing all other security and safety regulations.
· Must have flexible working hours to handle emergency repairs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Completion of high school. Completion of an apprenticeship and/or prior knowledge of maintenance and repairs.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
For the purpose of communicating with guests and other departments, a good knowledge of the English language is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The Maintenance Associate must be able to deal with a number of different tasks at the same time. The environment can become very stressful due to occupancy and the day to day operations of the hotel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift heavy objects. Walking and standing required for the most part of their day. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary machinery and equipment.
