Position Summary:
The Robotic Weld Technician is an integral member of the Manufacturing team and Robotic Welding group working with the team to ensure quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ABB / Kuka robot programming and program modification.
- Respond to weld corrective report and perform Weld modifications using robot to maintain weld quality.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement projects and work with Engineering department to develop new welding techniques and process improvement.
- Troubleshoot robotic welding processes and resolve welding issues.
- Develop and maintain a database with records of changes and welding schedule.
- Develop program routines for new jobs.
- Change over jobs and setting up of weld tooling on automated equipment.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on robots and automated welding machines in a timely manner.
- Responsible for making required modifications to robotic equipment to meet quality standards.
- Develop and document process parameters for resistance and GMAW operations.
- Program and troubleshoot all weld controllers to ensure quality standards are met.
- Make appropriate modifications to welding equipment to ensure high level of running efficiency.
- Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of GMG.
- Ensure that all duties and tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
- Will comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education as a Weld Engineering Technician / Automation (or equivalent) or minimum of 3 years’ practical field experience directly with Automated Welding.
- Robotic programming experience (ABB and KUKA).
- Working knowledge of Resistance and Arc Mig Welding equipment
- Experience with MEDAR WTC and Fronius Welders.
- Candidate should be familiar with all of the following: lean manufacturing principles, quality systems, metal forming, welding and blueprint reading (including GD&T).
- Assertive and self-motivated, with the ability to analyze and prioritize tasks.
- Constantly open to new ideas, change, and Continuous Improvement (CI).
- Capable of moving ideas into actions.
- Skilled in root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques of equipment problems.
- Computer proficiency, including Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook) and various databases.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a team environment and under little supervision.
- Understanding drawing requirements & specifications.
