About the Calgary Broncos
The Calgary Broncos are a high-performance U18 hockey program focused on player development and advancement. The Broncos compete in the PHL as their primary league while also participating in showcase events and competition in other leagues/tournaments. Our mission is to provide players with a structured environment that emphasizes skill development, accountability, character, and preparation for the next level of hockey.
Position Overview
The Calgary Broncos are seeking an experienced, passionate, and development-focused Head Coach to lead our U18 program. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team, player development, game preparation, and collaboration with organizational leadership and coaching staff.
The ideal candidate will have a strong hockey background, established connections within the hockey community, and a proven ability to develop and mentor athletes while helping advance players to higher levels of competition.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Head Coach of the Calgary Broncos U18 team.
- Plan and lead team practices and skill development sessions.
- Prepare players and staff for league games, showcases, and tournaments.
- Develop individual player improvement plans and provide ongoing feedback.
- Work collaboratively with the organization's coaching staff across the PHL, JPHL, UT1HL, and NAPHL programs.
- Assist in player evaluation, recruitment, and roster management.
- Communicate professionally with players, families, staff, and league representatives.
- Foster a positive, disciplined, and development-focused team culture.
- Support organizational initiatives and player advancement opportunities.
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the U15, U18, Junior, Prep School, Academy, or equivalent level.
- Strong understanding of player development principles.
- Proven leadership and communication skills.
- Established network within the hockey community and recruiting landscape.
- Ability to mentor student-athletes both on and off the ice.
- NCCP certification or equivalent coaching credentials preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
Schedule & Travel Requirements
- Availability for approximately four on-ice sessions per week, typically beginning around 4:00 PM.
- Availability for games, showcases, and organizational events.
- Ability to travel approximately one weekend per month for showcase events and league competition.
- Ability to travel within Canada and the United States as required.
Compensation
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary over a contract term. Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit within the organization.
