Position Title: Shovel Operator - Fly-in/Fly-out
Salary Range: $44/hr + OT ($51.33/hr)
We are on the hunt for an experienced Shovel Operator (Komatsu PC5500 or PC8000) to support the open pit mining department at an established mine in Northern Ontario. This is a fly-in, fly-out facility, with a 2x2 rotation, and will require day and night shifts. This is a contract assignment. Pay is $44.00/hr plus overtime after 8 hours per day ($51.33/hr for a 12 hour work day), flights and camp accommodation provided. If interested, please get in touch right away. We are looking for those individuals with a strong work ethic and a good employment track-record. This role provides technical support and coaching to assist the department and the company to strive to achieve their goals of "ZERO HARM".
Main Accountabilities:
- Operate Shovel in a mine production environment
- Operate other equipment as needed such as Excavators, Grader, Dozers, Loaders, Haul Trucks
- Clean and lubricate equipment and refill equipment tanks.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment.
- To follow all procedures and policies as set by the company.
- To fill out all forms required for daily operation of an assigned unit.
- To follow the Safety Plan as specified by the company and to accept the training to do so.
- Perform pre- and post-operational checks of equipment as well as assisting and performing the basic care and maintenance on equipment as may be required.
Operation of equipment for 12 hour long daily shifts for 7 or 14 days

Main Qualifications:
- Must have experience on Shovels Komatsu PC8000 or PC5500
- Minimum 5 years experience operating heavy equipment
- Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of the equipment
- Ability to work continuously for prolonged periods of time under pressure
- Ability to work in harsh weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and with little supervision
- Previous rotational experience an asset
- Must be able to identify hazards and perform the role in a safe manner
- Must also possess an understanding of the issues regarding safety and the ability to work in and implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment
- Must have demonstrated ability to work individually and as a team.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
- Experience working in day and night shift, be physically fit to work in arctic climate and adverse conditions.
- Incorporates HS&E concepts into work activities and demonstrates concern for others health & safety (co-workers, clients, and sub trades).
- Leadership as well as interpersonal, organizational and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude. Able to develop and foster a team environment
- Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Proven track record in safe work practices.
