Oceans Fresh Food Market is a supermarket ideally positioned as Canada’s multi-ethnic fresh food shopping experience. We have been in business since 2007 and provide a high level of quality with regards to fresh produce, fresh meat, fresh seafood & fresh food.
We are currently looking for a full-time Clerk for our Seafood Department. the Seafood Clerk is responsible for preparing seafood products in advance for customers to choose from while providing prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable service to our customers. The position also needs to stock seafood products on the display cases in the sales area, follow FIFO concept, provide good service to our customers by fulfilling their requests, and maintain inventory and workplace cleanliness. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all employees, customers, and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed consistently.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure the proper stock rotation of all assigned items in the department and ensure excellent quality and value of all merchandise, if applicable; ensure full display of various seafood products
- Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage
- Prepare various seafood products for sales activities, including but not limited to catch, gut, descale, cut, wash, pack and label various seafood products and display them in the display counters
- Providing good customer service with manner, enthusiasm, and friendly
- Assist customers in selecting seafood products and provide recommendations to them, as required
- Keep the work and storage areas such as cutting table, display counter, and walk-in coolers clean, organize and safe at all times
- Wash relevant work areas and fish tanks, also ensure working equipments tools, clean, in safe working order, and well-kept
- Ensure all operating standards including food safety and quality are adhered.
- Assist in the performance of inventory-taking and recommend the ordering of merchandise and supplies to the Store Manager and Department Manager or designate
- Accept responsibility for designated department opening and closing procedures as may be directed by the Store Manager and Department Manager or designate
- Assist and relieve other members of the store clerk or service team as may be requested by the Store Manager and Department Manager or designate
- Performs other tasks as required by the Store Manager and Department Manager or designate to meet business needs
- Work as a team member, lending support and assistance to fellow employees

- Strong customer service skills and passion for serving people
- Superior standards of cleanliness and quality
- Ability to work in a team
- Ability to work from directives with little supervision
- Ability to understand, follow instructions and solve problems
- Ability to multi-task and work in a high paced environment
- Effective English communication skills
- Experience is not necessary as training is provided
