Are you a high-impact HR leader who believes that a great people strategy is a competitive advantage? FundyPros Specialty Construction is looking for a Director of Human Resources to help build the people infrastructure behind one of Atlantic Canada’s most respected specialty contractors.
As one of Atlantic Canada’s largest specialty contractors, FundyPros Specialty Construction operates across multiple divisions—including Insulation, Firestop, Flooring, and Residential—with revenues in the range of $40–200M. Known for quality workmanship, safety leadership, and commitment to client success, FundyPros is at a pivotal point in its growth. The business is scaling, the talent bar is rising, and this role exists to raise both.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the COO, the Director of Human Resources will serve as a true strategic HR business partner—someone who understands how people programs drive business outcomes and who can translate that understanding into practical, high-impact action. This isn’t a transactional HR role. We are looking for someone who balances strategic thinking with execution, bringing structure, accountability, and operational rigor while remaining adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership, division managers, and your HR team to align human capital priorities with operational goals. You’ll rebuild and elevate core HR functions—talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance management and succession planning—while operating with the clarity and simplicity that a fast-moving construction business demands.
What You’ll Do
Strategic HR Partnership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the COO and senior leadership on all people-related matters.
- Own the HR strategy aligned with FundyPros’ business objectives and growth trajectory.
- Understand operational realities across divisions and translate them into actionable people programs.
- Champion a culture of clarity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Build and lead world-class recruitment programs and partner with division leaders to ensure the talent pipeline is current.
- Develop a proactive workforce planning function that anticipates talent needs across divisions.
- Establish a consistent source-select-onboard rhythm that keeps pace with the business.
Leadership Development & Succession
- Design and implement development programs targeted at all levels of the business.
- Build meaningful succession plans for key roles across the organization.
- Partner with managers to identify high-potential employees and create clear development pathways.
Performance Management & Standards
- In collaboration with divisional leaders, establish clear performance expectations, review processes, and accountability structures across the organization.
- Ensure training and development programs are connected to measurable business outcomes—not just compliance checkboxes.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Oversee all core HR operations including compensation, benefits, policies, and employment compliance in New Brunswick and beyond.
- Develop and maintain HR systems and processes that are practical, scalable, and easy to use.
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies across all divisions.
What We’re Looking For
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CPHR designation is an asset. MBA is considered an asset.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years leading people.
- Experience in construction, trades, or industrial environments is a strong asset, but comparable experience will be considered.
- A practical problem-solver who is comfortable challenging the status quo and implementing new ideas that support business growth and organizational effectiveness.
- Proven success building recruitment programs and developing talent pipelines in competitive labour markets.
- High task orientation with the ability to move quickly, make decisions, and get things done without unnecessary complexity.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels.
