IT Technician – Small MSP, Big Exposure
About Us
We're a small managed services provider based in Edmonton. We don't have departments. We don't have rigid tiers. Everyone on our team touches everything — from password resets to firewall builds to Azure environments. If you want to learn fast and be trusted with real responsibility from day one, this is the gig.
The Role
We're looking for a solid T1 technician who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves on T1 tickets and won't shy away when T2 problems land on their desk. You'll be supporting a diverse client base across a wide range of technologies, so if you're the kind of person who gets bored doing the same thing every day, you won't have that problem here.
This isn't just a ticket queue job. You'll also be involved in project work — migrations, network buildouts, new client onboarding, infrastructure upgrades, and more. You'll get hands-on experience that most technicians at larger shops never touch.
As we grow, so does your role. This isn't a dead-end position — we're actively scaling and the people who are here now will be the ones leading the next phase.
What You'll Be Doing
- Providing direct support to end-users — troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues across Windows and macOS environments
- Managing and administering Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 tenants
- Working within Azure environments — if you understand Azure AD, conditional access, and Intune, you'll hit the ground running
- Handling firewall configurations and network security across client environments
- Participating in project work including M365 and Google Workspace migrations, on-prem to cloud transitions, new client onboarding, full network and firewall deployments, and server/infrastructure upgrades
- Documenting everything properly in our ticketing system — if it's not in a ticket, it didn't happen
- Getting creative with solutions — we work with a lot of different technologies and cookie-cutter answers don't always cut it
- Going onsite to client locations as needed
What We're Looking For
- Strong foundational IT knowledge — networking, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Group Policy. The fundamentals matter here more than anything
- Experience supporting both Windows and macOS
- Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 administration experience is a strong asset
- Familiarity with Azure (Azure AD, Intune, conditional access policies)
- Firewall experience — any vendor, we'll teach you the rest
- Relevant certifications are valued — CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft certs (AZ-900, MS-100, MD-102), or similar. We care more about what you can actually do than a wall of certs, but they tell us you're serious about the career and committed to learning
- A genuine curiosity about technology and a drive to figure things out rather than just escalate them
- Clear communication skills — you'll be talking directly to clients, not hiding behind a queue
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently, but knows when to ask for help
Important: When you apply, include the word "homelab" in your subject line and tell us one technology you taught yourself and why. Applications without this will not be reviewed.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (1-hour break)
- Full-time, 40 hours/week
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle — onsite client visits are part of the job
- Based in or around Edmonton
What We Offer
- 3* Month Contract with high chance of becoming a full time position.*
- Remote work with onsite visits as needed
- Real project work — not just tickets. Migrations, buildouts, deployments, and infrastructure upgrades
- Hands-on exposure to a massive range of technologies — you'll learn more here in a year than you would in three years at a big shop
- A small team where your work actually matters and doesn't disappear into a ticket queue
- Real growth potential as the company scales
Who This Isn't For
If you only want to work within a narrow scope, need constant direction, or aren't comfortable jumping between different types of problems in the same day — this probably isn't the right fit. We need someone adaptable.
We're looking to fill this role quickly. If this sounds like your kind of environment, we'd love to hear from you.
