The Building Attendant supports the day-to-day operation of the Rotary Centre for the Arts during evenings and weekends. Responsibilities include event and room setups, customer service, facility monitoring, light cleaning duties, and ensuring the building is prepared for a wide variety of activities and events.
The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, comfortable working independently, and enjoys interacting with the public in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Event & Room Support
- Set up and reset rooms for classes, meetings, rehearsals, performances, and special events
- Arrange tables, chairs, presentation equipment, and other rental assets according to event requirements
- Complete room inspections before and after bookings
- Assist with room turnovers and schedule-driven setup changes
- Ensure spaces are organized, presentable, and ready for use
Customer Service
- Welcome renters, instructors, performers, artists, and visitors
- Answer questions and provide general assistance throughout the facility
- Support a positive and professional experience for all building users
- Assist renters with basic facility needs and direct concerns to management when appropriate
Facility Monitoring & Light Cleaning
- Conduct regular building walkthroughs throughout the shift
- Maintain cleanliness in public areas, washrooms, entrances, and common spaces through light cleaning and tidying
- Remove garbage and recycling as required
- Restock washroom and operational supplies
- Assist with end-of-shift facility resets and handovers
- Report maintenance, safety, or operational concerns to management
Safety & Security
- Monitor facility activity and ensure public areas remain safe and accessible
- Follow RCA policies, procedures, and safety practices
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned
- Respond appropriately to operational issues and emergencies within the scope of the position
Qualifications

Hours: Approximately 15–24 hours per week
Typical Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoons/evenings (start times typically between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM)
