Grande Prairie's Kickstand is an upstream approach to ensuring youth ages 11-24yrs have timely and appropriate access to resources. The Youth Engagement Worker will be tasked with ensuring youth participation in community activities. This is a fun and interactive role with room for growth.
- Ability to establish rapport and maintain therapeutic relationships with young people and family members.
- Broad knowledge of social, mental health and substance use services available in the community.
- Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing minority groups including 2SLGBTQ* and Indigenous youth and young adults.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills, ability to gather and process information to support the organization and its team.
- High degree of self-awareness and capacity to apply appropriate boundaries and maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in collaborative tables
- Participate in community events to promote the awareness of Kickstand GP and Sunrise House.
- Support in planning and the delivery of youth programming.
- Well-developed communication skills, ability to speak, listen and write clearly, thoroughly, and professionally.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, accountability, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and show initiative, as well as be part of an interdisciplinary team
- Ensure a clean work environment with daily clean checklist and deep cleaning spaces
- Ability to use critical thinking skills
- Documenting and tracking project updates and capacity building activities
- Willing to develop creative social media content. Posting on social media and able to use or willingness to learn Canva, Tiktok, Instagram, Metabusiness Suite, Facebook, and Discord
Working Conditions
- Flexible scheduled weekday evening shifts and some weekends
- Working with diverse communities that are impacted by intersectional ties and systemic barriers
Education/ qualification
- Social Work Diploma or equivalent (Human Services Diploma/ Certificate) is an asset other education and experience will be considered.

- Evenings and weekend availability.
- Clean Criminal and Child Intervention records check.
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid Driver’s License and Driver’s abstract.

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour
