A reputable and market-leading industrial contractor is seeking a highly experienced Corporate Controller to support and oversee corporate financial operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Corporate Controller will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of a multi-entity organization and provide leadership to the accounting and finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, cash flow management, and the development of strong internal controls and financial processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and leading a team
- Preparing and analyzing monthly consolidated financial statements across multiple operating entities
- Overseeing cash flow management, general ledger reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Monitoring project costing and supporting operational reporting on project performance.
- Coordinating annual budgeting processes and preparing variance analysis with recommendations and corrective actions.
- Monitoring daily banking activity
- Administering online banking platforms, including EFTs, wire payments, and payment approvals.
- Reviewing and approving payments, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Leading year-end close activities and acting as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Preparing or overseeing tax remittances, including corporate and consumption taxes.
- Reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts and resolving discrepancies.
- Evaluating operational processes and internal controls while identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
- Supporting senior leadership with financial analysis, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
- Hiring, training, mentoring, and developing direct reports within the finance department.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams regarding financial and contractual matters.
Qualifications:
- CPA designation is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Previous experience working within construction, industrial, manufacturing, or project-based environments is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software in a project environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex spreadsheets and formulas.
- Demonstrated leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
