URGENTLY HIRING: Construction Flagger / Traffic Control Person (TCP)
- Location: Banff, AB
- Must have a valid driver's licence, reliable transportation, steel toed boots and a high visibility safety vest.
- Must be able to drive to site daily - no accommodation is provided
- Wage: $22.00/hr & $50 daily gas allowance
- Hours of Work: Start - 7:30 a.m. (8 hrs a day with occasional paid overtime)
- Days of Work: Monday to Friday (occasional weekends may be needed)
Job Summary
The Construction Flagger is responsible for maintaining safe and efficient traffic flow through and around construction zones. This role involves directing vehicles and pedestrians, ensuring compliance with traffic control plans, and protecting workers, the public, and equipment within the worksite.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct traffic using hand signals, stop/slow paddles, or flags according to safety regulations
- Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, and signage
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust control methods as necessary to ensure safety
- Communicate clearly with crew members, equipment operators, and other flaggers via radio or hand signals
- Ensure compliance with local traffic control standards and safety procedures
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately
- Maintain awareness of surroundings, including vehicles, pedestrians, and changing weather conditions
- Assist with general labor duties on-site when traffic control is not required (if applicable)
Qualifications
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Excellent communication skills
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Ability to lift and carry traffic control equipment (typically 20–50 lbs)
- Manual dexterity and coordination for signaling traffic
- Good vision and hearing
Work Environment
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind)
- Exposure to moving traffic, noise, and construction equipment
- Early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime may be required
Safety Considerations
- Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (high-visibility vest, hard hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Adhere strictly to all occupational health and safety regulations
- Maintain constant alertness to prevent accidents and injuries
