Job Description:
We are seeking a Building Material Testing Inspector to perform field and laboratory testing and inspection of construction materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for sampling and testing materials such as concrete, soil, aggregates, and asphalt to verify compliance with project specifications and applicable quality standards.
The position involves conducting field inspections and material tests, operating testing equipment, documenting test results and site observations, identifying and reporting non-conforming materials or test results, and preparing field and laboratory reports. The inspector will coordinate with contractors, engineers, supervisors, and other project personnel to support construction quality-control activities.
The successful candidate should have previous experience in construction material testing, inspection, or quality control, be able to understand construction specifications and testing procedures, and be comfortable working independently in both field and laboratory environments. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills are required.
English proficiency is required. Knowledge of Persian (Farsi) is considered an asset.
Job Duties:
Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials, including concrete, soil, aggregates and asphalt.
Collect and prepare material samples for testing in accordance with established testing procedures and project specifications.
Perform concrete testing, including sampling, slump testing, air-content testing and preparation of concrete specimens.
Conduct soil and aggregate testing and assist with compaction and density testing at construction sites.
Inspect construction materials and completed work to verify compliance with project specifications, drawings and applicable quality standards.
Operate and maintain material-testing equipment and ensure testing equipment is kept in proper working condition.
Record test results, field observations and inspection findings accurately and prepare field and laboratory reports.
Identify and report materials or test results that do not meet required specifications.
Coordinate testing and inspection activities with contractors, engineers, supervisors and other project personnel.
Follow established quality-control procedures and workplace health and safety requirements while working in laboratories and on construction sites.
Maintain organized testing records, samples and related documentation.
Perform other related material-testing and inspection duties as required.
Requirements
Requirements:
College diploma or university degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience.
Previous experience in construction material testing, inspection or quality control.
Experience with concrete, soil, aggregate and/or asphalt testing is an asset.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and testing procedures.
Ability to prepare accurate testing and inspection records.
Good organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in field and laboratory environments.
English language proficiency required.
Knowledge of Persian (Farsi) is an asset.
Pay: $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 per week
