Flat Deck/Step Deck Truck Driver – Fort Macleod, AB
Weston Transport – Fort Macleod, AB
Position Title: Flat Deck/Step Deck Truck Driver
Reports to: Logistics Supervisor
Start Date: Mid-September 2026
About the Role
Weston Transport is looking for an experienced flat deck/step deck driver to join our team out of our Fort Macleod shop. This role hauls primarily precast concrete panels, with occasional steel loads, to and from active construction job sites. You'll start out running standard flat deck/step deck trailers, and will also operate a specialized precast hauling trailer being imported from Germany, full training provided once it arrives. Because you'll regularly be up in the Edmonton area for stretches of up to a week at a time (sleeping in your sleeper), this position suits a driver who is comfortable on the road and can work independently while representing Weston professionally at every stop.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely haul precast panels and steel loads on flat deck/step deck trailers
- Operate a specialized European-style precast trailer once training is complete
- Properly load, secure, and unload cargo to prevent damage or accidents
- Travel to and work out of Edmonton-area job sites for multi-day stretches as required, including overnight stays in the truck's sleeper
- Navigate and work safely on active construction job sites, including wearing appropriate PPE at all times
- Maintain a clean, well-presented truck at all times — you're a visible representative of Weston Transport on every job site
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues promptly
- Coordinate with the yard and logistics teams for timely pickups and deliveries
- Maintain accurate transportation logs and records in compliance with company policy and legal regulations
- Follow all job site safety protocols and participate in safety meetings
What You Bring
- Valid Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience operating flat deck and step deck trailers
- Comfort learning specialized equipment — training provided on a new precast trailer
- Job site safety experience and familiarity with construction site environments
- Willingness to travel to Edmonton and stay in-truck for up to a week at a time
- Strong pride in vehicle presentation — a clean, professional truck matters to us
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Telehandler ticket is an asset but not required — we're happy to train the right candidate
