Sonata is a window coverings and interior design company with showrooms in Calgary and Edmonton. Almost everything we sell -- blinds, shades, drapery, shutters, wallpaper -- gets ordered from a manufacturer, built to spec, received in our warehouse, and installed in a customer's home or building. This role keeps that pipeline moving.
You'll work across the operations side of the business: placing orders with suppliers, checking that what we ordered matches what gets confirmed, receiving and organizing product in the warehouse, keeping our records accurate, and helping production when things get busy. If you take pride in getting the details right and like seeing the result of your work go out the door, you'll do well here.
What you'll do
- Place purchase orders with our suppliers (manufacturers like Hunter Douglas, Maxxmar, and others) and track them through to delivery
- Check order confirmations against what was quoted, catching wrong sizes, colours, mount types, or pricing before they turn into a remake or a delay
- Track and maintain chargebacks to vendors so suppliers credit us back for defective, incorrect, or short-shipped product
- Receive incoming product, match it to packing slips, label it, and store it in the right zone in the warehouse
- Take part in regular stock counts and keep inventory accurate
- Keep order and customer information accurate and current in our CRM (Maximizer)
- Chase down backorders, delays, and missing items, and flag anything that puts an install date at risk
- Be a point of contact for installers' questions on orders and product, and help troubleshoot issues as they come up
- Pitch in with the production and warehouse team on prep, staging, keeping the space organized, and general duties when the workload calls for it
What we're looking for
- A sharp eye for detail. You check your own work and you notice when something is off
- Comfortable with computers and data entry. Experience with a CRM, inventory, or order management software is a plus
- Organized enough to keep dozens of open orders straight without dropping any
- Dependable, and able to run with the work on your own once you're trained
- Able to be on your feet and lift product in a warehouse setting
- Background in operations, purchasing, warehouse, or admin helps, but we'll train the right person
- Experience with window coverings, construction, or home renovation is a bonus, not a must
