Groundman – Scrap Yard Operations
Pay: $21.00 per hour

Are you looking for a hands-on role with a company where safety is the top priority? We are seeking a dependable Groundman to support daily operations in our scrap recycling yard. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy physical work, working outdoors, and being part of a team committed to operational excellence and workplace safety.
As a Groundman, you will perform general labor duties throughout the scrap yard while helping maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. Every task is completed with a strong focus on health, safety, and environmental compliance.
What You'll Do
- Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
- Help maintain a safe environment for employees, customers, and visitors
- Perform general labor duties throughout the yard
- Load, unload, sort, identify, and move materials as directed
- Assist equipment operators with alignment, movement, and positioning of materials or machinery
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Perform yard cleanup and housekeeping activities
- Support team members and operations as needed across the facility
- Inspect work areas and report safety concerns, equipment damage, or maintenance needs
- Contribute to efficient and productive yard operations
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding position requiring the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Bend, stoop, crouch, push, and pull materials throughout the day
- Reach overhead and at arm's length
- Work safely around moving equipment and materials
- Maintain awareness of surroundings in a fast-paced industrial environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
- Previous industrial, construction, warehouse, laborer, recycling, manufacturing, or outdoor work experience is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and equipment preferred
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed

- All weather conditions
- Heavy equipment and machinery
- Noise, dust, dirt, and fumes common in a scrap yard environment
