Job Summary
Mellish Earthworks is a new company based out of Metchosin bc. We are seeking a class 1 or 3 driver to run a 1993 15 speed western star gravel truck. Currently part time hours but planning to transition to a full time position as the company grows. Mechanical knowledge is an asset and would allow for more weekly hours.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 3 dump trucks to transport bulk materials such as gravel, dirt, or debris to designated locations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking fluid levels, brakes, lights, and tires
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety protocols during transportation and loading activities
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, materials transported, and vehicle maintenance records
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding delivery schedules and operational issues
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability
Experience
- Valid Class 3 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Prior experience operating dump trucks or similar heavy equipment in construction or industrial settings
- Paving experience is an asset
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair skills
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs to maintain safety standards
- Excavator/Loader experience is an asset
