JOB SUMMARY
Under the general guidance and supervision of the Executive Chef and within the limits of establishing Novotel Toronto North York policies and procedures, responsible for the cleanliness of dishes in the Restaurant and assistance of the Kitchen/Production section and duties assigned by the Executive Chef to deliver a guest experience that is unique and brings the brand service culture to life.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Load, run and unload the dishwasher with utensils, glassware, cookware, plates and trays in a fast and efficient manner.
- Ensure all dishes are clean and sanitized before they are put away on dish racks or used by fellow team members
- Maintain the dishwasher area to make sure it’s clean and organized and that the wash cycle is always sanitary and operating at peak performance.
- Preparing dining areas and kitchen for next shift by cleaning and restocking dining areas and cook stations.
- Cleaning machines and appliances used in the kitchen, such as coffee makers, pots, and pans, mixers, etc.
- Unloading and storing deliveries.
- Sweeping and mopping floors, especially in the event that items are broken or spilled.
- Taking out the trash and rinsing garbage bins.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Help with replenishing food items on the breakfast buffet/prepping certain food items for following day
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming at all times.
- Establish and maintain effective employee relations.
- Communicate positively and openly with team members and direct supervisor ensuring effective teamwork and high morale.
- Attend meetings and training sessions/courses that may be beneficial to self and the department.
- Act responsibly for Health and Safety at work. Familiarizes self with emergency and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure all security incidents, accidents and near misses are always brought to the attention of the direct supervisor.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimal work experience.
- Strong problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended shifts and lift at least 20 pounds.
- Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts (days, evenings, weekends, holidays)
- Food Safety Handling a must
