Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optician/Optical Sales Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support within our optometry practice. This position requires strong communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As an Optician/Optical Sales Associate, you will assist with various tasks related to patient care, office administration, and optical sales.
Responsibilities
- Educate patients on eye health, vision correction options, and proper use of optical products.
- Assist in the fitting and dispensing of eyewear, including glasses and contact lenses.
- Handle sales transactions for optical products while providing excellent customer service.
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in procedures at the front desk.
- Cross-train with reception and diagnostic imaging.
- Participate in personal and team development training and initiatives including staff meetings, continuing education, and conferences.
- Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adhere to relevant health and safety procedures.
Requirements
- Licensed Optician registered with the College of Opticians of Ontario preferred.
- Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) certification preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems, particularly Visual-Eyes, is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with retail sales practices is beneficial, especially in an optical context.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills are essential for success in this role.
- Willing to train and contribute towards education for the right candidate.
