Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of telecommunication systems and networks. This role requires a strong understanding of computer networking, low voltage systems, and electrical components. The Telecommunications Technician will ensure reliable communication infrastructure across multiple sites, supporting both voice and data services. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience with hand tools to contribute to critical communication systems in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Ethernet networks, Cisco routers, and telecommunication equipment.
- Troubleshoot network issues related to computer networking, telephony, and low voltage systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on telecommunication infrastructure.
- Use hand tools and mechanical knowledge to assemble, repair, or modify communication hardware.
- Assist in the installation of electrical wiring and components related to telecommunication systems.
- Document system configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure minimal downtime during system upgrades or repairs.
- Follow safety protocols when working with electrical and low voltage systems to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience or training in telecommunication systems, including Ethernet, telephony, and computer networking.
- Mechanical knowledge and experience working with hand tools for installation or repair tasks.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers and other networking hardware.
- Understanding of electrical principles related to low voltage wiring and systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex network or hardware issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of telecommunication standards and best practices is preferred.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications or technical training in telecommunications or networking are advantageous.
