Location: North York, ON (with visits to facilities across GTA) – Hybrid (2-3 days per week on-site)
Contract Duration: 12 months with a possibility of extension

Summary of Scope of Work and Responsibilities
General Accountabilities
Provides full, professional architectural design services for transit-related facilities. Ensures technical accuracy, compliance with applicable codes and standards, adequacy of design, safety, constructability, maintainability, cost effectiveness, and timely completion of deliverables.
The Design Architect will provide comprehensive architectural design services for transit facilities, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:
- Direct and review the work of Technologists, Design Draftspersons, and other assigned support staff
- Gather project information through both field investigations and office-based research
- Prepare code compliance reviews for new and existing facilities
- Develop technical design reports, including schematic and preliminary designs
- Manage design work in accordance with approved work plans and schedules
- Develop and prepare complete contract documentation, acting as design lead when assigned
- Review, check, and sign documentation as required and where appropriate
- Perform site reviews and prepare reports to support permitting and code compliance
- Provide construction phase support, including review of shop drawings and contract submittals
- Conduct regular field reviews and prepare deficiency reports
- Coordinate the preparation and justification of anticipated contract changes
- Provide operational support as required and assigned
- Support updates to internal design standards and guidelines, as assigned
- Conduct design and development reviews, including:
- Reviewing and commenting on design and technical documents prepared by consultants and internal engineering teams
- Reviewing development proposals on an as-needed basis to assess impacts on applicable standards
- Maintain active registration with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
- University degree in Architecture with a minimum of 10 years of experience on complex, multi-disciplinary projects
- Licensed Architect registered with the Ontario Association of Architects (mandatory)
- Experience in transit facility design considered an asset
- Experience with MicroStation and Revit considered an asset
Pay: $60.00-$80.00 per hour
