Senior Full-Stack AI Engineer / Technical Rescue Lead
Contract-to-Permanent | Canada-based strongly preferred /
Lextar AI Legal Solutions Inc. is seeking a senior full-stack AI engineer to assume technical ownership of an existing accountable-AI platform, stabilize its pre-commercial MVP and prepare it for a narrowly scoped Canadian public-sector Proof of Value.
Lextar processes document-heavy legal and administrative records, extracts and structures material facts, maps facts to source evidence, identifies missing or conflicting information, aligns issues with governing rules and produces human-reviewable analytical work.
The immediate mandate is not greenfield product development. It is to inherit and audit an existing codebase, compare the corporate repository with the deployed application, repair acceptance-blocking workflow defects, document the architecture and establish reliable company-controlled development, deployment and security practices.
The immediate assignment includes:
- auditing and reproducing an inherited codebase;
- comparing the corporate GitHub version with the deployed application;
- identifying missing code, configuration and infrastructure;
- fixing frontend state, navigation and workflow-persistence defects;
- integrating document extraction, legal reasoning, chat and forms workflows;
- improving document-processing status and structured outputs;
- strengthening LLM/RAG orchestration and source provenance;
- documenting models, APIs, hosting, databases and data flows;
- strengthening access control, logging, backups, Canadian data-residency readiness and deployment reliability; and
- preparing a secure synthetic- or anonymized-data PoV environment.
The successful candidate must have strong professional experience across:
- modern frontend development;
- backend APIs and databases;
- application state and asynchronous workflows;
- production LLM applications;
- RAG, vector or hybrid search;
- structured outputs and tool orchestration;
- document intelligence, OCR or PDF processing;
- cloud deployment and CI/CD;
- GitHub administration;
- security-aware engineering; and
- inherited-codebase rescue.
Legaltech, govtech, regulated-data, form automation, source provenance and auditable human-in-the-loop experience are strongly preferred.
The initial engagement will be a paid or formally deferred, milestone-based technical audit and stabilization contract. There is potential for conversion to a full-time technical leadership role upon qualified financing, institutional PoV funding or sufficient customer revenue.
All development must occur in company-controlled repositories and infrastructure. Complete IP assignment, documentation, acceptance testing and transition support will be required.
Applicants should provide:
- a résumé or LinkedIn profile;
- an example of an inherited codebase they successfully stabilized;
- an example of a production LLM or document-intelligence application;
- their availability and location;
- their proposed hourly or milestone rate in Canadian dollars; and
- confirmation that they will undertake a short controlled technical assessment before receiving the larger mandate.
