We are seeking an experienced Contract Site Manager to oversee the successful execution of large-scale material handling automation installation projects. In this role, you will serve as the on-site leader, working closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
This position requires extensive travel to customer job sites and offers the opportunity to lead high-value automation and distribution center projects while coordinating multiple subcontractors and project stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Manage daily on-site execution of material handling automation installation projects.
- Travel up to 90% to customer project sites.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and customer safety regulations.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture among all contractors and project personnel.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers and project teams.
- Lead daily site coordination and safety meetings with subcontractors and site leads.
- Monitor project schedules and coordinate installation activities to meet project milestones.
- Provide daily project updates to the Project Manager, identifying risks related to schedule, scope, or budget.
- Receive, inspect, inventory, and document all project shipments and materials.
- Coordinate material staging and equipment placement to maintain efficient workflow.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site.
- Represent the company professionally through leadership, communication, and decision-making.
QualificationsRequired
- Associate degree in a technical or engineering-related field or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the material handling industry, warehouse automation, or distribution centers.
- Minimum 5 years of construction or installation management experience.
- Experience managing projects valued between $10 million and $40 million.
- Forklift certification.
- Ability to travel extensively (approximately 90%).
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of material handling systems, warehouse automation, fulfillment, and supply chain operations.
- Experience with automation equipment, robotics, controls, and software systems.
- Understanding of project management processes.
- Ability to read CAD drawings, electrical schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Experience managing installation schedules involving 50+ subcontractors.
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, video conferencing platforms, and inventory management systems.
- Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and extended hours as project schedules require.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform medium physical work, including:
- Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Climbing ladders and scaffolding.
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, and pulling.
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Exposure to construction environments, moving equipment, elevated work areas, dust, fumes, and other typical job site conditions.
