Job Summary
We are hiring a friendly, reliable Cashier to join our Castlegar Home Hardware team. This role is customer-facing and plays a key part in delivering a positive shopping experience.
What You’ll Do
- Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service
- Operate the point-of-sale system (cash, debit, credit, gift cards)
- Process returns and refunds according to store procedures
- Balance cash and transaction records accurately
- Answer phones, page staff, and assist with general inquiries
- Contact customers when special orders arrive
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
- Watch for loss prevention concerns and follow store policy
- Assist with training new cashiers as required
- Provide basic administrative coverage when trained
- Follow all safety policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned by management
What We’re Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Previous retail or cashier experience is an asset
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable handling cash and working with POS systems
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and take on new tasks
- Availability to work weekends and statutory holidays
Schedule & Availability
- 24–40 hours per week
- Must be available on weekends and statutory holidays
- Flexibility to provide administrative coverage when required
