About Us
Wellington Foundry manufactures high‑quality aluminum site furnishings including park benches, picnic tables, and waste receptacles. We are seeking an experienced Foundry Journeyman to join our aluminum foundry team. This is a hands‑on, skilled role responsible for producing high‑quality castings through safe and precise foundry practices.
Position Overview
The Foundry Journeyman plays a key role in mold and core production, furnace operation, metal casting, and quality control. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a high‑temperature industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Producing high‑quality sand molds and cores for aluminum casting
- Operating and maintaining gas‑fired aluminum furnace
- Performing metal melting, pouring, and casting operations
- Monitoring melt quality, temperature control, and alloy specifications
- Conducting quality inspections on molds, castings, and finished parts
- Identifying and correcting casting defects
- Following all safety procedures related to molten metal handling
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Assisting with training of apprentices or junior foundry workers
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman‑level experience in a foundry environment (aluminum preferred)
- Strong knowledge of mold and core making processes
- Experience with furnace operation, melt handling, and pouring techniques
- Ability to identify casting defects and perform corrective actions
- Strong understanding of foundry safety practices
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a hot, fast‑paced environment
Assets
- Experience with pattern work or gating system design
- Supervisory or mentorship experience
- Mechanical aptitude or equipment troubleshooting skills

Work Schedule
- Monday – Thursday: 06:30–15:30
- Friday: 06:30–12:30
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
