The Project Manager performs municipal engineering work at the professional level and is responsible for the management and planning of the City’s sanitary sewer, water distribution, road, dike and drainage infrastructure. In this capacity as Project Manager, the incumbent will lead and provide direction to staff responsible for asset management and master infrastructure planning.

Asset management and planning of the City’s sanitary sewer, water distribution, road, dike and drainage networks.

Develop capital plans for infrastructure replacement and upgrades.

Preparing technical reports to committees and Council.

Supervision of technical and professional staff as well as assigning project work to all divisional staff when required.

Developing and administering agreements, contracts, policies and bylaws.

Reviewing engineering design drawings for municipal infrastructure as well as private utilities.

Developing policies and staff procedures.

Representing the City on various committees with internal and external agencies as well as at public open houses.

Reviewing land development applications and developing engineering requirements for development

Providing engineering support and expertise to City staff and customers

Knowledge of municipal bylaws and processes

Skilled in computer assisted analysis for master infrastructure planning.

Demonstrated ability in design, construction and project management.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form with City Council, the public and staff.

Proven skills in customer service initiatives, innovation, and team building.

University Degree in Civil Engineering or Diploma in Civil Engineering

Registration/license with the relevant professional association in British Columbia (EGBC, ASTTBC) is preferred

Five (5) years of related experience including a combination of engineering and project management experience in planning, design, construction, consultant administration, contract administration and operations and maintenance of City infrastructure.

An equivalent combination of education and experience in civil infrastructure and project management would also be considered.

Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
Duties are performed in an office environment with some site visits required
