On a typical week:
- Provide hands-on coaching and skill development in real work environments.
- Encourage and support the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
- Provide individualized, person-centered support to help participants develop workplace skills, build confidence, and overcome barriers to employment.
- Assist with personal care tasks, including bathroom assistance, while promoting independence and dignity.
- Foster open communication between participants, their families, and community partners to ensure comprehensive support.
- Act as an advocate for participants by fostering community connections, removing barriers to participation, and promoting access to meaningful opportunities.
- Promote safety and well-being, ensuring a secure environment for participants.
About You:
- Previous 1 year experience working with individuals intellectual and developmental disabilities and person-centered support practices.
- Experience working with adults on the autism spectrum, including supporting communication, social skills development, community inclusion, and employment-related goals.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic with a strong commitment to promoting independence and inclusion.
- Self-motivated, outgoing, energetic, positive, encouraging, kind personality.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with participants, families, and community partners.
- Experience with documentation, goal setting, and support planning for individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Flexible, able to adapt to changing operational needs.
- Ability to stand and remain active for several hours at a time. Willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Capacity for light lifting as part of daily duties.
- Available to cover full-time shifts between the hours of 7:00 -5:00 Monday to Friday.
- First Aid/CPR, criminal & vulnerable record check and Social Development check completed upon hiring.
