Aurae Studio is a Vancouver-based luxury fashion startup preparing to launch our first couture-inspired collection. We're looking for a Technical Designer / Pattern Maker to help bring our first three signature designs from sample to production.
Why Aurae?
We're a startup, so your ideas matter. We believe great products are built collaboratively. Designers, technical designers, pattern makers, and production all contribute to making the final garment better. If you enjoy sharing ideas, solving technical challenges, and building something from the ground up, you'll fit right in.
What you'll do
- Develop and refine production-ready patterns and technical packages.
- Improve garment fit, construction, and manufacturability.
- Recommend fabrics and construction methods.
- Engineer where garments should use structured mesh versus stretch mesh to balance support, movement, and silhouette.
- Help solve how crystal embellishment interacts with stretch fabrics and garment structure.
- Collaborate directly with the founder to turn ideas into production-ready garments.
You'll thrive here if...
You enjoy solving problems like:
- How do we engineer a crystal-embellished dress that still stretches beautifully?
- Where should structure replace stretch without sacrificing comfort?
- How do we preserve a design vision while making it manufacturable?
We're looking for someone with:
- Technical fashion design and pattern-making skills.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, stretch, recovery, and garment construction.
- Confidence to recommend better technical solutions, not just execute instructions.
- The ability to work efficiently and complete this project within approximately one month.
- Experience or a strong interest in jewellery design, crystal embellishment, couture, costume design, luxury accessories, or other detail-driven creative disciplines is a major asset. Our garments are designed like wearable jewellery, where crystal placement is part of the garment's engineering, not simply decoration.
- Experience is valuable, but talent, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly matter just as much. New graduates are encouraged to apply if your portfolio demonstrates exceptional technical thinking.
Contract Details
- Contract / Freelance
- Approximately 1-month project
- Vancouver-based applicants only
- Work remotely, from your own studio, or wherever you work best
- Flexible schedule with agreed project milestones
- Regular in-person check-ins to review samples, fittings, and technical progress
We're hoping to begin this project as soon as possible. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by July 24, 2026. Applications will remain open until the position is filled.
