Senior Accountant – Fully Remote (Alberta)

The Opportunity
We are partnering with a fast-growing accounting firm to find an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a fully remote opportunity offering flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to grow with an organization that genuinely prioritizes work-life balance, strong client relationships, and making a positive impact for its clients.
The successful candidate will have experience in public practice and be comfortable managing compilation and year-end files from start to finish while also providing guidance to members of the bookkeeping and accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and complete compilation engagements and year-end files
Complete year-end adjusting entries, including amortization and other required adjustments
Prepare personal income tax returns
Work with files involving sole proprietorships and rental properties
Prepare and review T4 slips and related filings
Review bookkeeping and make necessary year-end adjustments
Provide technical support and answer questions from bookkeeping and accounting team members
Communicate directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and maintain strong relationships
Small and growing owner-managed businesses
Ensure files are accurate, complete, and delivered within established timelines
Qualifications
Previous experience in public practice accounting
Approximately 2+ years of year-end/compilation experience preferred
Strong understanding of bookkeeping, year-end adjustments, and financial statement preparation
Experience preparing Canadian personal tax returns
Experience with sole proprietorship and rental property files is an asset
Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines
Confident providing guidance and answering accounting questions from junior team members
Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
Technology
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
QuickBooks Online (QBO)
Xero
Wave Accounting
