Estimator (Full-Time) needed for Cladding Systems (Aluminum Plate, ACM, fibre cement, wood siding, and composites).
Position Summary
Review proposal specifications and preliminary drawings to determine the scope of work and the quantity of materials, supplies and labour required for the project (take-off process) and any other factors that may impact overall cost. Compile and analyze information by getting estimates from subcontractors and preparing detailed reports on the project.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Construction Engineering/Science or other relevant field.
- A postgraduate diploma in Construction/Architectural Technology or an equivalent technical field is required.
- A certificate from the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is an asset.
Work Experience
- 1 – 3 years’ experience working as an Estimator.

Key Responsibilities
1. Review proposal specifications and preliminary drawings to determine scope of work and determine the quantity of materials and labour required for the project (take-off process) and any other factors that may impact overall cost.
2. Analyzes specifications and calculates the quantity materials required for the project and inputs the data into spreadsheets and Estimating software.
3. Predict staffing and potential overtime costs.
4. Recalculate estimates in response to any client/architectural specification changes, as required.
5. Perform complex analysis of collected data and metrics.
6. Prepare relevant and reliable tenders.
7. Build relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
8. Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards and contract negotiations.
9. Establish and maintain tendering process.
10. Set up cost monitoring and reporting procedures.
11. Other duties as assigned by manager.
Physical Demands and Visual Acuity
· Intense auditory and visual concentration.
· Prolonged periods of sitting.
Work Environment
· Mostly office work.
· May have an off-site presence at job sites.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
