Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Journeyman Carpenter and carpenter helper/labourer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive carpentry expertise, including blueprint reading, concrete forming, and woodworking. This role involves executing a variety of construction projects with precision and professionalism, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. The Journeyman Carpenter will be responsible for interpreting schematics, managing materials, and performing complex carpentry tasks to meet project specifications and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to guide project execution.
- Construct, install, repair, and maintain structures such as framing, cabinetry, siding, roofing, flooring, tile laying, and concrete forms.
- Operate a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform masonry work including rebar installation and restoration projects as needed.
- Assist with electrical and plumbing rough-ins when required, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Execute finishing tasks such as caulking, painting preparation, and cabinetry installation to achieve polished results.
- Collaborate with project managers to estimate materials and labor requirements accurately.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety protocols and building codes at all times.
- Maintain a clean work environment and organize tools and materials for efficiency.
- Participate in project planning meetings to provide insights based on technical expertise.
Skills
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding schematics for various construction disciplines.
- Extensive experience with concrete forming, masonry, rebar installation, roofing, siding, and framing.
- Skilled in cabinet installation, flooring installation, tile laying, drywall finishing, and woodworking techniques.
- Strong knowledge of hand tools, power tools, CNC machinery (if applicable), and construction estimating software.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently on job sites.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, plumbing rough-ins, caulking techniques, and construction painting is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to read technical drawings accurately.
- Handyman experience or general construction experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
