About the Role
Northfront Insurance is seeking an experienced Senior Insurance Advisor – Life & Living Benefits to join our Calgary team.
This is a client-facing position for an established insurance professional who combines technical insurance expertise with strong relationship-management and business-development capabilities.
You will work directly with clients to identify insurance needs, recommend appropriate solutions and manage cases from initial analysis through application, underwriting and policy placement. You will also work closely with Northfront Financial Advisors to identify insurance opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships, while developing new business through your own network, referrals and prospecting activities.
This is not a traditional high-volume insurance sales role. We are looking for a professional who can build trusted client relationships, provide thoughtful insurance advice and take ownership of the entire client and case-management process.
What You’ll Do
Advise Clients
- Meet with clients to understand their personal, family, business and financial circumstances.
- Identify insurance needs and recommend appropriate coverage structures and levels.
- Advise clients on life and living-benefit solutions, including:
- Term Life Insurance
- Whole Life and other Permanent Life Insurance
- Universal Life Insurance
- Critical Illness Insurance
- Disability Insurance
- Annuities and related solutions
- Prepare and explain insurance illustrations and product comparisons.
- Clearly communicate product features, costs, benefits, limitations and trade-offs.
- Support insurance recommendations within clients' broader financial, estate and wealth-planning objectives.
Manage Cases from Application to Placement
- Manage insurance cases from recommendation through application, underwriting, approval and policy placement.
- Assist clients with accurate and complete insurance applications.
- Coordinate directly with carriers and underwriters.
- Order and follow up on medical, financial and other underwriting requirements.
- Proactively manage outstanding underwriting requirements and case activity.
- Review carrier offers and coordinate policy placement with clients and advisors.
- Use carrier illustration, quotation and underwriting systems.
- Maintain complete and accurate client and case records in the firm's CRM and related systems.
Develop New Business
- Generate new insurance opportunities through personal networks, referrals, existing renewals, and active prospecting.
- Work with Northfront Financial Advisors to identify insurance opportunities within existing and prospective client relationships.
- Participate in client meetings where insurance expertise is required.
- Develop relationships with professional referral sources and other centres of influence.
- Manage opportunities from initial discussion through recommendation, implementation and policy placement.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective insurance business.
- Contribute to the continued growth of Northfront Insurance.
Provide Ongoing Client Service
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with insurance clients.
- Provide ongoing service following policy placement.
- Coordinate policy changes, beneficiary updates, ownership changes and other servicing requirements.
- Support clients through the claims process when required.
- Conduct or support periodic insurance reviews.
- Identify changes in client circumstances that may create additional insurance needs.
- Respond to client questions and service requests promptly and professionally.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Active LLQP licence in Alberta.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the Canadian life and living-benefits insurance industry.
- Significant client-facing insurance experience.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new insurance business.
- Strong knowledge of life insurance and living-benefit products.
- Hands-on experience managing insurance applications and underwriting.
- Experience working directly with insurance carriers and underwriters.
- Ability to prepare, interpret and explain insurance illustrations.
- Strong relationship-management and client-service skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to independently manage multiple active cases and competing priorities.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft 365, CRM platforms and insurance-carrier technology.
Preferred
- Experience serving high-net-worth or affluent clients.
- Experience working within wealth management, financial planning or investment advisory.
- Experience generating business through Financial Advisor or professional-referral relationships.
- Salesforce experience.
- An established professional or referral network in Calgary or Alberta.

Compensation & Benefits
This role combines base compensation with a significant production-based opportunity:
- Potential total annual compensation of approximately $100,000–$130,000+, depending on individual production
- Modest annual base salary

There is no fixed ceiling on commission earnings; total compensation will depend on insurance business generated.

Pay: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
