Role Overview
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Accountant position within a mid-sized transportation and logistics operation based in Coquitlam. The role is hands-on and focused on financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls in a high-volume, operational environment. You will play a key role in month-end close, audit support, and ensuring financial accuracy across multiple business units.
Requirements
- CPA designation
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience within a Canadian industry environment
- Must have experience in a high-volume, operational business (transportation, logistics, distribution, or similar)
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Full-cycle month-end and year-end close
- Balance sheet reconciliations and variance investigation
- Intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- ERP system experience (required)
- Advanced Excel skills (working with large datasets, reconciliations, and analysis)
- Solid understanding of internal controls, compliance, and audit processes
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations teams
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with logistics or transportation ERP systems (e.g., TruckMate or similar)
- Prior experience supporting external audits
- Experience in multi-entity or multi-branch environments
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
- Lead detailed balance sheet reconciliations, including investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions across entities
- Oversee allocation of internal revenue and expenses across branches or departments
- Support month-end and year-end close, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors with documentation and analysis
- Analyse financial results and provide insights to support operational decision-making
- Partner with operations teams to ensure adherence to internal controls and financial procedures
- Maintain accurate financial records within the ERP system
- Monitor and stay current on relevant accounting standards and regulatory changes

This role is not suited to candidates without Canadian industry accounting experience or those coming solely from public practice without direct, hands-on operational accounting exposure.
