Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and family-oriented Personal Support Worker (PSW) or Developmental Services Worker (DSW) to provide in-home respite support. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships, creating a safe and positive environment, and supporting individuals with their daily needs while giving families valuable respite.
Responsibilities
Responsibilites include, but are not limited to:
- Personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
- Meal planning, prep and cooking
- Light housekeeping and cleaning
- Providing companionship and engaging activities
- Community outings and recreational activities (as appropriate)
- Supporting emotional well-being
- Crisis intervention when / if required
- Maintaining a safe, respectful, and family-focused environment
Qualifications Required:
- PSW or DSW certification (or equivalent experience)
- Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid G driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, with family members and use sound judgment
Position Details
- Part-time: 15–20 hours per week, with potential for additional hours.
- 1-year contract with potential for renewal.
- Hours are primarily during the day (Mon, Tues, Thurs); however, additional hours may occasionally be available during evenings and weekends.
