Salon Front Desk Receptionist
ecoChic AVEDA Lifestyle Salon, located in The Bay Centre in Downtown Victoria, is looking for a friendly, organized, and client-focused Front Desk Receptionist to join our team.
The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for our clients and will play an important role in creating a welcoming, professional, and well-organized salon experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome clients in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
- Provide attentive customer service and respond to client questions, requests, and concerns calmly and respectfully.
- Answer incoming phone calls and emails professionally, provide accurate information about salon services, and direct inquiries when necessary.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the salon’s booking system.
- Ensure appointments are booked with the appropriate stylist, service, and amount of time.
- Manage appointment schedules, waitlists, confirmations, and last-minute changes while helping reduce scheduling gaps and missed appointments.
- Communicate client requests, service details, appointment changes, and other important information clearly to stylists.
- Check clients in and out, process payments, issue receipts, and assist with gift cards and other front-desk transactions.
- Help clients learn about appropriate salon services, current promotions, and AVEDA retail products without using high-pressure sales techniques.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception and retail area.
- Receive deliveries and assist with monitoring salon supplies and retail inventory.
- Support the salon’s social media presence by creating and publishing simple, brand-appropriate posts, stories, photos, and short videos for platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
- Respond to routine social media messages or direct inquiries to the appropriate team member.
- Follow salon policies, brand guidelines, and client privacy requirements when creating or publishing social media content.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in reception, customer service, retail, hospitality, or another client-facing position; salon or spa experience is an asset.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, including confident and courteous telephone etiquette.
- Comfortable using computers, email, booking systems, and point-of-sale systems; experience with Fresha or a similar salon booking system is an asset.
- Familiarity with Instagram and Facebook, with the ability to create and publish basic social media content.
- Experience with Canva, basic photo or video editing, or other content-creation tools is an asset.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional when handling busy schedules or client concerns.
- Strong attention to detail, time-management, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable recommending salon services, promotions, and retail products.
- Reliable, punctual, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
