Position Summary & Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Sheet Metal Shop Attendant / Junior Designer for a full-time opportunity in Mississauga. The successful candidate will initially spend the first few months working hands-on in the sheet metal shop, learning the products, materials and fabrication processes before gradually taking on CAD and design responsibilities.
In the shop, the individual will assist with and learn various sheet metal operations, including presses, stamping machines and other fabrication equipment, as well as measuring, preparing and handling sheet metal components for production. As they gain a strong understanding of how parts are manufactured, they will begin creating and modifying drawings and designs used for production.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with education or experience in mechanical design, CAD or manufacturing who is mechanically inclined and wants to develop a strong understanding of the complete process from design through fabrication.
Requirements
- Education or training in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, CAD, Manufacturing or a related technical field
- Experience or working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar CAD/design software
- Ability to create and modify basic 2D and/or 3D drawings and designs
- Comfortable initially working primarily in a hands-on sheet metal shop environment
- Interest in progressing into CAD and design responsibilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, dimensions and specifications
- Mechanically inclined with strong hands-on aptitude
- Previous experience with presses, stamping machines, sheet metal equipment or other manufacturing machinery is an asset
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication, cutting, bending, forming or related processes is an asset
- Comfortable using hand tools and measuring equipment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Reliable, safety-conscious and willing to learn
- Must be available Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
- Flexibility to work overtime until approximately 4:30–5:00 PM when required
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
