Canary District Animal Hospital is a progressive, privately owned veterinary hospital located in the heart of downtown Toronto. We are currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Receptionist to join our growing team. This position is Monday to Friday only (weekends or statutory holidays) making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking for work-life balance while building a rewarding career in veterinary medicine.
As the first point of contact for our clients, our reception team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, compassionate, and efficient experience for both pets and their families. We are looking for someone who is organized, personable, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism
- Answering and directing phone calls
- Scheduling appointments efficiently
- Maintaining accurate patient records
- Weighing patients upon arrival and updating medical records
- Responding to client emails and other communications
- Processing invoices, estimates, receipts, and payments
- Tracking vaccine reminders and preventive care reminders
- Assisting with maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming hospital environment alongside the rest of the team
- Supporting efficient daily workflow and providing exceptional client service
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital preferred, or significant experience in a fast-paced customer service or hospitality environment
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong written and verbal English skills
- A positive, team-oriented attitude
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence communicating with clients in person, by phone, and electronically
- The ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
- Comfort handling financial transactions accurately
- Good animal handling skills
- A willingness to learn and grow professionally
- Reliability and punctuality
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Comfortable using ladders and step stools
- Ability to lift moderate amounts of weight
