The Central Student Association (CSA) represents and serves undergraduate students at the University of Guelph. Through advocacy, services, events, student supports, and business operations, the CSA works to enhance student experience and strengthen campus life. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Finance Coordinator to oversee the financial operations of the organization and support the CSA’s long-term financial sustainability. As a permanent staff member, the Finance Coordinator must uphold and support the CSA's Mandate and Approach and work towards the overall success of the CSA and the Team as we serve our members.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of the CSA, including budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, investments, banking, and audit preparation. Working closely with the Executive Director, President, Finance Committee, and Bookkeeper, the Finance Coordinator ensures the organization maintains strong financial controls, complies with regulatory requirements, and provides accurate financial information to support organizational decision making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Coordinate the organization’s day-to-day financial operations, including banking, investments, and cash flow management.
- Oversee the administration and distribution of student fee revenues.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular financial reporting to the Executive Director, President, and Finance Committee.
- Ensure financial records are accurate and maintained in accordance with organizational policies and accounting standards.
Budget & Financial Planning
- Lead the annual budget development process in collaboration with the Executive Director, President, and Finance Committee.
- Prepare financial forecasts and monitor budget performance throughout the fiscal year.
- Support long-term financial planning and organizational sustainability.
- Assist departments with budget planning and expenditure monitoring.
Payroll & Compliance
- Administer the organization’s payroll processes and maintain employee payroll records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll legislation and regulatory reporting requirements, including CRA remittances, WSIB, and Employer Health Tax.
- Coordinate year-end payroll reporting, including T4 preparation.
Financial Reporting & Audit
- Prepare financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate the annual external audit and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Assist in preparing audited financial statements and reports for the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, and membership.
- Review financial processes and recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls.
Operational Support
- Supervise the Bookkeeper and Business Office Assistant.
- Maintain financial records and document retention systems.
- Support organizational purchasing, contract administration, and financial policies.
- Assist with financial onboarding and training for staff and Executive Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A university degree or college diploma in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Experience in financial management, budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing for or coordinating external audits.
- Experience working in a nonprofit, membership-based, or post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
- Full-time, permanent position.
- Three-month probationary period.
- Some evening work may be required to attend Finance Committee meetings.
- Compensation: $70,000 – 80,000
