We are looking for an experienced Fitter/Welder to join our heavy fabrication shop. This is a shop-only position focused on fitting, welding, and fabricating custom industrial components.
The successful candidate will have strong experience with Flux-Core (FCAW), MIG wire, and Stick/SMAW welding, along with the required CWB tickets. Experience working with rolled plate is highly preferred.
Our shop specializes in heavy-duty industrial fabrication, including generator ductwork, silencers, hospital smoke stacks, and custom pipe assemblies. Pipe is fabricated and welded to the required lengths and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Fit and weld heavy-duty industrial components in a shop environment.
- Perform Flux-Core (FCAW), MIG wire, and Stick/SMAW welding.
- Fabricate heavy-duty ductwork for generators and industrial equipment.
- Fabricate silencers and exhaust-related components.
- Fabricate smoke stacks/stacks for hospitals and other industrial applications.
- Fit and weld pipe to required lengths and configurations.
- Work with heavy-gauge steel and plate.
- Fit, tack, align, and weld components to drawings and specifications.
- Measure, cut, fit, and prepare materials for welding.
- Read and interpret shop/fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Use grinders, cutting equipment, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment.
- Maintain accurate fit-up, dimensions, and weld quality.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean shop environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current CWB welding tickets
- Flux-Core / FCAW ticket
- MIG wire ticket
- Stick / SMAW ticket
- Proven experience as a Fitter/Welder in a heavy fabrication or industrial shop.
- Strong hands-on Flux-Core/FCAW welding experience.
- Strong fitting and fabrication skills.
- Experience working with heavy-gauge steel and plate.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Ability to accurately measure, fit, align, and weld components.
- Strong understanding of weld fit-up, distortion, and quality requirements.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently.
Preferred Experience
- Rolled plate fabrication experience.
- Heavy-duty ductwork fabrication.
- Custom/job-shop heavy fabrication.
